Welcome to the Buddy Scheme
The Buddy Scheme enables health and social care students and medical trainees to learn from mental health service users. The mentoring of students and trainees by service users, in the work place can work for you too.
The Buddy Scheme is an award-winning, innovative educational method designed to enhance the practice of health and social care students and trainee medical professionals.
The Buddy Scheme will provide your workplace or learning environment with trained mental health service users who are employed as mentors, therefore increasing awareness of the issues faced by those using services and suggesting what can be done to improve their experience.
The Buddy Scheme seeks to empower both service users and our future healthcare workers by increasing understanding of mental health through true partnership-based work and education – from the viewpoint of those who matter most.”
The scheme connects policy, education and healthcare organisations, facilitating active consumer involvement as trainees take learning forward to improve services.
The Buddy Scheme DVD is introduced by Jo Brand.
The Buddy Scheme is dedicated…
“To all the service users that we have had the privilege to work with, who have taught us, and continue to teach us, so much about the experience of mental illness” Belinda Garnett & Geoff Turner
